Danica Patrick’s Shape Magazine Interview & Video

It’s obvious from Danica Patrick’s Shape magazine cover that the racing star knows how to build a beach body. Fortunately, she’s willing to share her secrets. The Indy Racing League driver sat down with the magazine and talked about her beach body diet.

To keep her svelte 105 pound body in shape, she runs everyday for one hour plus works out her shoulders, forearms and back. She does work with a trainer and said, “I skip days here and there and don’t beat myself up for it.”

Danica eats a high protein and complex carbohydrates diet. Breakfast on any given day would consist of a three egg white omelet in addition to oatmeal with cinnamon, flax meal and brown sugar. Don’t forget the side order of peanut butter too.

Lunch consists of an open faced turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard, but she will occasionally add a slice of cheese as well, “I worry about the scale like anyone else, but I have to make it through five-hour races. It’s a constant battle for me.”

Danica and her husband, Paul Hospenthal, enjoy making over their favorite dishes and for Christmas last year, she gave him a two day class at the Culinary Institute in Napa Valley! He gave her a bread maker and she is currently making over the bread recipes as well.

“It kills me to put 3 cups of white flour into that machine! I’m testing my own creations with healthy ingredients, like whole-wheat flour; bran; flaxseeds; flax meal; and sesame, sun-flower, and pumpkin seeds,” she says.
